Job summary

The Bladder and Bowel Service is a multi-professional service working across BNSSG. Adults are seen in clinics to diagnose and treat continence or other bladder and bowel problems. A specialist domiciliary service is offered to housebound patients where the Integrated Network Teams requires additional expert guidance.

Summary about the Service

  • Deliver community Bladder and Bowel (B&B) services, including specialist advice and guidance to people in our community Integrated Network Teams, Acute Trusts and Primary care/ HCPs within Sirona and Community.
  • To provide advice and guidance; self-management strategies through face to face clinics and other media means to all professionals, patients and members of the public.
  • Provide education, training and workforce planning to Sirona staff and external partners
  • Current working hours of the service: 8 – 5 pm 5 days a week (The service specification however asks for the service to extend their core hours and develop 7 day working)
  • Flexible base but will be expected to travel to patients homes, clinics, community settings and BNSSG wide.
  • The Service is responsible for continence management within residential homes, and to monitor and advice in nursing homes.
  • Manage the contract for the continence products home delivery service and to work with colleagues across BNSSG to work within the urology and colorectal formulary.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible and lead:

Clinical management of the team and to provide direct and indirect line management.

On clinical quality, service improvement, clinical governance & innovation, clinical incidents & risk management within the service.

Will also provide operational leadership; developing long term condition and self-management within community services and ensuring commissioned targets & Key Performance Indicators are met.

  • Substantial post-registration experience
  • Extensive experience of working in one or more of the following continence, urology, gynae, colorectal and community services.
  • Demonstrate experience of bladder and bowel care in adults and/or children
  • Ability to develop audits/standard setting and develop guidelines/protocols
