Consultant Community Paediatrician; Special Interest inNeurodisability/Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics and Designated Doctor for ChildDeaths.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and committed teamof Neurodevelopmental Paediatricians who are passionate about improving thecare of children with additional needs in County Durham and Darlington. We areseeking to recruit an enthusiastic colleague with an interest inneurodisability and/or neurodevelopmental paediatrics with additionalopportunity to become the Designated Doctor for Child Deaths, across Durham andDarlington. The designated role is hosted by CDDFT, but accountable to NHSNorth East & North Cumbria Integrated Care Board. A separate jobdescription and person specification is included for this aspect of the postwhich would be allocated 2 Programmed Activities (PAs).

The post is advertised as 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), howevercandidates who wish to work less than fulltime are also encouraged to apply asan appropriate job plan can be negotiated. The duties of this post does notinclude any acute paediatric on call work.

Main duties of the job

Work with a dedicated team of community and developmental paediatricconsultants to deliver holistic and multi-disciplinary care to children withdevelopmental disorders and complex health needs in the locality. They willwork alongside specialist community nurses, paediatric therapists and childpsychologists.

Liaise with colleagues in Primary Care, Education (including theprovision of health advice for the Special Education Needs and Disabilityassessment process) and Social Services in the delivery of care.

Support statutory services undertaken by the department.

Contribute to service development, departmental clinical governance andannual appraisals towards revalidation with the GMC.

Participate in postgraduate training within the clinical environment andsupport paediatric trainees
