The MRI department at New Cross hospital consists of three scanners and our Cannock site will have a brand-new facility with further MRI units.

You will work alongside an innovative team of professionals, performing a wide range of MRI examinations including advanced cardiac scanning. In addition, you will offer support, guidance and training to junior members of staff and trainees, helping develop people and services.

We are passionate about providing excellent patient care and as a senior radiographer, you will be an integral part of the patients care and journey through radiology. We are equally committed to growing you as a professional and have multiple opportunities for growth and career progression including post graduate training and advanced learning/development.

You must have a degree or equivalent qualification in Diagnostic Radiography and be registered with the HCPC.

Hours will include weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will offer our patients the highest standard of imaging and patient care in an MRI focused setting.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly to provide services on a rota that will include working at weekends, during evenings and on Bank Holidays.

The post holder will have sufficient technical knowledge to produce high quality diagnostic images. Full equipment training for external candidates will be provided.

Job responsibilities

To work on a rotation, undertaking radiographic duties in at least one clinical area primarily MRI scanning.

To work flexibly to provide these services including at weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays.

To ensure that you have sufficient equipment training and technical knowledge to produce high quality diagnostic images.

To ensure that you use all equipment safely and in accordance with operating/manufacturer instructions and that you and all staff using equipment are competent and trained to do so.

To undertake training on the Patient Management System (PMS), the Radiology Information System (RIS) and the Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) to ensure that patient information is stored and retrieved accurately.

To Participate in the vetting of appropriate referrals in line with radiology authorisation guidelines.

The post holder may be required to administer I.V injections of contrast media to patients.

To work in a multi-disciplinary team and to encourage team development and facilitate the professional development of other personnel this may include nurses, HCAs, students, apprentices and other trainees.

To ensure a clean, tidy and safe working environment, adhering to the cleaning SOPs in place for each clinical area.

To report accidents / untoward incidents / hazards to the Superintendent Radiographer as soon as possible, ensuring completion of the Incident Report Form.

To undertake any reasonable duty that may arise which will assist the smooth running of the Radiology Service following appropriate discussions.

To work flexibly to cover annual leave and sickness absence, working additional sessions as agreed.

Maintain fitness to practice with the Professional Code of Conduct through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and mandatory training (Fire, Infection Control, Manual Handling, Information Governance and CPR).

To wear the uniform provided and to promote the Radiology Directorate in a positive manner at all times.
