Job summary

We are looking to recruit to the Head of Evidence in the Clinical and Public Health group of UKHSA. This post will sit in the Public Health Clinical Response division and report to the relevant Deputy Director.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Evidence will be responsible for leading an all-hazards evidence function within the Public Health Clinical Response division, ensuring the timely provision of evidence to inform advice, guidance, policy and incident response across UKHSA.

The Head of Evidence and their team of evidence reviewers and information scientists will work collaboratively across UKHSA to strengthen the organisation’s internal processes around evidence synthesis, as well as developing internal skills and capacity for this work. The post holder will need to develop relationships across the public health system, to coordinate activity and collaborate with agencies such as NICE, the NIHR and the WHO as well as the UK and international academic communities.

The post requires strong leadership skills, a high degree of innovation, and the need to be responsive and to take the initiative. It also requires excellent communication both in writing and orally, and the ability to think strategically as well as deliver operationally. The post holder will need to establish and maintain a range of key stakeholder relationships in order to support the business needs of the organisation.
