We have two exciting roles in our Leadership & OD team which will both play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of a range of leadership and management development opportunities as well as team and OD interventions to improve the experience of colleagues working across the Trust.

The main purpose of role is to work with leaders and colleagues across our Trust to deliver activity that improves the services we provide to patients and supports our commitment to developing, supporting and caring for our colleagues.

The role is responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of a range of OD projects, leadership and talent development programmes and staff engagement opportunities which support delivery of strategic priorities, aligning with and promoting our organisation’s values and behaviours.

The role will report to the Head of Leadership & OD although there will be close collaboration with other members of the People & OD department and divisional leaders and colleagues across our Trust. You will be part of a team which provides a broad range of services which support the overall effectiveness, development and success of our organisation.

Main duties of the job

This role would suit someone with the following attributes, skills and experience:

– Working in the fields of leadership development and/or talent development

– Facilitation experience in one or more of the following: training courses/programmes; engagement events; team development; action learning

– Successful and sensitive management of new or challenging group dynamics

– Working with people from diverse backgrounds and those identifying with minority protected characteristics

– Able to design, delivery and evaluate high quality leadership development programmes and OD projects

– Excellent presentation skills with the ability to engage an audience

– Able to prioritise tasks and work under own initiative

– Demonstrates emotional intelligence and sensitivity to the needs/ experiences of individuals/ groups

JOB PURPOSE

Organisational Development

– Under direction of the Leadership & OD, to design, coordinate, deliver and evaluate high quality OD interventions which have a significant impact on the performance and effectiveness of the Trust, divisions, departments and teams in line with strategic priorities and organisational values.

– Use a range of recognised OD & learning theories, along with evidence/data analysis relating to staff and patient experience, to inform the design and facilitation of OD interventions.

– Offer expert OD advice, support and positive challenge to individuals, teams and established ways of working.

– Collaborate with colleagues in the People & OD department, senior managers and other stakeholders to identify, diagnose and commission appropriate OD support for divisions, departments and teams as required.

– Collate, analyse and interpret complex data (quantitative and qualitative), triangulating survey data with other key performance and HR metrics. Provide advice and recommendations verbally and via written reports – regarding suitable OD solutions and interventions. This includes handling and communicating information which may be sensitive and/or contentious.

– Monitor and support the implementation of agreed OD projects/interventions, ensuring that solutions and interventions are delivered in line with expected timescales and associated KPIs. Adjusting plans and reorganising work in order to achieve this.

– Engage with Leadership/OD and non-OD colleagues in the Integrated Care System (One Gloucestershire) and beyond including: external providers, Do OD Network, Health Education England and the NHS Leadership Academy.

Leadership and Talent Development

– Under the direction of the Head of Leadership & OD; work in conjunction with the L&OD team to design, deliver and evaluate a range of high quality leadership and talent development programmes which help to fulfil strategic priorities and are in line with organisational values.

– Select and use the most appropriate methods to deliver leadership and talent development opportunities which meet a range of learning and practical needs, such as: face-to-face, virtual, blended, online; written and recorded materials; groups and one-to-one; formal (accredited) and informal.

– For delivery of formal accredited programmes, fulfil all requirements relating to selection, delivery, marking/assessment, verification and record-keeping as necessary.

– Build successful working relationships with relevant external providers such as: ILM, EMCC, universities, apprenticeship providers, NHS Leadership Academy.

– Work with leaders and divisions to embed talent development into our culture, including increasing engagement and membership of the Accelerated Development Pool (ADP).

– Provide coaching to Trust leaders (formally and informally); design, deliver and evaluate coaching/mentoring skills training.

– Research, introduce, develop, evaluate and improve talent development opportunities including the use of mentoring, coaching, job shadowing, secondments, online learning, action learning.

Staff Engagement

– Design, facilitate, monitor and evaluate engagement/involvement events with multi-disciplinary colleagues from across our Trust.

– To supervise and assist with the preparation, promotion and results analysis of the annual NHS staff survey.

– Work with divisional colleagues to identify, design, implement, monitor and evaluate activity and outputs that improve staff engagement and experience, drawing on a range of evidence and data sources including the annual NHS staff survey and other pulse surveys.
