We are looking for an experienced senior nurse with proven leadership and management skills; sound understanding of national and regional priorities for childrens services and a passion for delivering a safe and high-quality services and continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

A key member of the Childrens Triumvirate Team, the successful applicant will have

exceptional clinical, organisational, and collaborative working skills. They need to be

a good communicator with a flexible approach, experience of leading change and the

ability to manage multiple priorities.

we are now making progress towards outstanding.

The Head of Nursing is appointed to provide expert, experienced, proven strategic nursing leadership for children and young people. The post holder will report to the Director of Midwifery and Womens Health and together with the Head of Clinical Services and Deputy Director of Operations will provide strategic vision, clarity of purpose and oversee a clinically safe and cost-effective service for children and young people.

The post holder will be a member of the Divisional Senior Management Team and will contribute to management of the Division and achievement of the Divisions objectives.

The Head of Nursing will be accountable for leading (on behalf of the Division) the infection prevention and control agenda and the NHSLA/Care QualityCommission compliance agenda.

In partnership with the Head of Clinical Service and the Divisional Clinical Director, the Head of Nursing will spearhead the agenda to understand, embed and progress all elements of the clinical governance agenda.

The Head of Nursing in partnership with the Director of Midwifery and Womens Health will develop and implement a strategy for nursing and oversee local delivery of nursing services. The Head of Nursing will oversee the redesign of models of nursing care ensuring that the nursing service is flexible, responsive, compassionate, and high quality.

The Head of Nursing is responsible and accountable for providing comprehensive and robust professional leadership, guidance, advice, support and direction to nurses and midwives within the Division to ensure that patients are managed and cared for effectively, efficiently, and safely.

The Head of Nursing is expected to work in accordance with objectives agreed with the Head of Clinical Service and Deputy Director of Operations, and professionally influenced by the Director of Midwifery and Womens Health and Chief Nurse.

The post holder is expected to practice in a way to enable him/her to use initiative, exercise autonomy and make decisions whilst as part of the triumvirate ensuring that the Head of Clinical Service and Deputy Director of Operations are informed and updated as appropriate.
