Job responsibilities

Principle Purpose/s:

• To assess and treat patients with a wide range of conditions, who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, to determine clinical diagnosis and plan, develop, implement and evaluate physiotherapy programmes and management plans.

• To provide Physiotherapy Assessment and treatment in Clinics, Health Centres, GP surgeries and community hospitals, including First Point of Contact services as appropriate.

• To work and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner

• To provide specialist Therapeutic input into planning, development and evaluation of clinical services, with responsibility for defined projects.

• To provide clinical and supervisory leadership to junior staff and students within the team, including case load allocation, appraisal and managerial supervision

• To coach and develop all members of the team using recognised management and training tools and techniques, including the AHP Learning Knowledge and Skills Framework and Personal Development Reviews, to achieve corporate and team objectives

Qualifications

Essential

• Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy
• Health Professions Council Registration
• Ability to supervise and instruct junior staff and students
• Documented evidence of
• Continuing Professional

• Ability to reflect on and critically appraise own practice and performance
• Standard computer skills including use of Microsoft and e mail.
• High level of presentation and training skills.
• Effective leadership skills

Desirable

• Membership of an appropriate professional body
• Current professional student practice placement educator training and associated skills

Experience

Essential

• A minimum of 24 months post graduate MSK experience as a physiotherapist demonstrating a high level of clinical experience
• Specialist physiotherapy knowledge of musculoskeletal, neurology, orthopaedics and elderly care specialities with skills in linked modalities
• Experience of participating in research and audit
• A clear understanding of and a high level of commitment to clinical governance.
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary service
