An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Matron positioncovering Diabetic services within our Integrated Medical Specialites team basedat University Hospital of North Durham but covering services across the trustand in to the community. We are looking for an appropriately experienced,highly motivated and committed Band 8a Matron to work within the service.

The Diabetes service provide both inpatient and outpatientcare across both acute and community settings. The nursing team provide an extensive specialist nursing network topatients with diabetes and diabetic related condtions.

Main duties of the job

The Matron will provide line management for the diabeticnursing team and be responsible for the clinical development of the diabeticteam in all areas of clincial practice.

In addition to the managerial and leadership element on therole the the Matron will provide direct clinical care within the community andacute setting delivering care to Type I and Type II diabetic patients.

The Matron will playa key role in delivering high quality care, focusing on patient safety andquality improvement. The Matron will hold strong links with the Governance teamleading on complaints, incident management and leading on governance within thediabetic service.

The Matron will implement, review and monitor the introductionof new policies and working practices within the multi-disciplinary team. Theywill lead the team to facilitate audit and promote clinically effective nursingwhilst monitoring compliance with evidence based practice and Trust policies.
