The difference our new Marine Systems Engineer will make

As a Marine Systems Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be solving problems whilst maintaining safety for Royal Naval Marine Engineers deployed around the globe.

Day to day, you’ll carry out technical investigations and analyses, including evaluation and selection of technical options, preparing reports with recommended courses of action as required by the Marine Systems & Equipment Support Chief Engineers. Evaluate engineering technical issues and, through the application of systems engineering principles, make technical recommendations to the Marine Systems & Equipment Support Chief Engineers through the provision of authoritative evidence that demonstrates that the system design intent has been achieved. Conduct impact assessments of proposed changes to maintenance, technical documentation and broader Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) functions of in-scope Marine Systems. Support design and safety reviews in order to identify technical and safety risks through the application of appropriate design and safety analysis. Provide support to the Marine Systems & Equipment Support safety function for the management safety risks. Provide technical inputs into ad-hoc Technical Approval Forms (TAFs) covering services where Marine Systems & Equipment Support Suitably Qualified Experienced Personnel (SQEP) capabilities have been totally exhausted.

Essential experience

  • HNC in Engineering
  • Experience of the engineering design, or support of, complex engineering systems or equipment, ideally Naval
  • A proven ability to work in a collaborative manner across a multi-disciplinary team and stakeholders
