About the Role

To work under the instruction of the SENDCo & Head of Inclusion staff to:

  • Undertake work/care/support programmes for pupils with SEND needs or pupils deemed as vulnerable
  • Enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils in the classroom
  • Work may be carried out in the classroom and outside the main teaching area.
  • You may be required to supervise groups of pupils undertaking activities in non-teaching situations.
  • To assist in the support and integration of children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND) within a mainstream school
  • Personal Qualities
    Essential:

  • Education to at least GCSE level including English Language & Mathematics A*-C
  • Ability to undertake further training and development as required
  • Understanding of classroom roles and your own position within these
  • Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Special Needs in the Secondary School environment
  • Knowledge/understanding of national curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
  • Effective use of ICT to support learning
  • First Aid knowledge
