My client is a top 10 Automotive industry Tier 1 supplier and engineering consultancy who have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Controls Engineer to join their team in Northampton on a permanent basis.

With a salary of £40k plus healthcare package and attractive pension options.

Supporting the materials research & development projects, internal benchmarking activities and production related issues by performing testing & metrology of automotive components on bespoke test rigs and measurement equipment.

As Test & Metrology Technician, you will:

  • To conduct pre- and post- test preparation and measurement.
  • To independently set-up, maintain and monitor dedicated bearing test rigs on a daily basis.
  • To support customer projects and projects with photography, bearing dimensional measurement and profiles.
  • To manage the test shaft supply and other consumables.
  • To work with external suppliers.
  • Logging and reporting of results to the test technicians, test engineers and project leaders.
  • Departmental housekeeping & maintenance duties including 5S projects.
  • Contribute to priority management and scheduling meetings.
  • Work collaboratively within and across teams to discuss test parameters and results with colleagues and participate in review meetings as necessary.
  • To be considered for the Test & Metrology Technician, you will have:

  • Previous experience working in an engineering or mechanical background
  • Competent user of hand-tools
  • Proven ability of mechanical build, engine components
  • Experience of basic Metrology measuring equipment
  • A working knowledge of mechanical, electrical & hydraulic systems
  • A working knowledge of PC based spreadsheet software
  • A working knowledge of instrumentations systems
  • This is a permanent position based in Northampton. Flexible approach Hybrid working, circa 2 days a week.
