Staff Nurse – Day Surgery Unit

We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join our Day Surgery Unit here at The London Clinic. We are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of £33,061- £39,734 per annum.

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest independently owned non-profit hospital, with state-of-the-art facilities located on Harley Street. Other premises include, The Duchess of Devonshire Wing (Cancer Centre), The London Clinic Eye Centre and 4 premises providing consulting room suites and diagnostic services.

Our Day Surgery Nursing Unit comprises of 16 day case rooms on the main ward, which offers dedicated, expert nursing teams to support our patients across the following specialties; Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, Gynaecology, Maxillofacial, Orthopaedics, Spinal and pain, Urinary and male reproduction, Vascular and much more.

Our modern day surgery unit also offers a day case unit for our local anaesthesia walk in/walk out patients, designed to improve the experience for patients as well as plenty of assessment rooms ensuring all pre-procedure interface is kept to the one unit.

Job Description

As a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for the delivery of the highest standards of care and service to the patients. This includes the appropriate assessment and evaluation of care in keeping with the Clinic’s policies, Protocols and philosophies, as well as the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

  • Job Type: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours per week)
  • Shifts: Monday – Friday, long days, earlies and lates
  • Salary: £33,061- £39,734 (inclusive of London weighting)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for individualised patient care acting as the named nurse, using the Roper Logan and Tierney model and documentation for the department.
  • Encourage good working relationships within the multidisciplinary team, to ensure the effective care and treatment of patients.
  • Ensure legibility and accuracy of nursing records and be aware of the legal implications of these documents.
  • Regularly participate in department meetings to enhance team communication.
  • Promote safe practice and professional conduct, as well as research-based practice, quality assurance and clinical audit where appropriate

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Nurse/Degree level with valid NMC registration
  • To have a experience in general surgery/and some experience in ophthalmology.
  • To have up to date knowledge of current issues in Day surgery.
  • To have proven Phlebotomy/ Cannulation skills and experience in the management of clients
