Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join the North West Ambulance Service’s established Programme Management Office (PMO).

The PMO here at NWAS is filled with friendly, dynamic, supportive and skilled project professionals with a great ethos and drive for delivery. We are supportive, compassionate and focused on improving patient care with the projects we are delivering. We offer a clear career pathway and are passionate about developing our staff to succeed in their project management journey.

The organisation also places a high emphasis and importance on staff health and wellbeing with a pool of resources available to all staff and a range of support networks aimed at diversity and inclusion

The role is an ideal opportunity for someone with significant experience of working within project environments; as project manager you will have experience of projects using both traditional project management methodologies and also agile methodologies and must possess demonstrable experience of working using such methodologies.

Main duties of the job

This rewarding and challenging role is responsible for ensuring the smooth-running of PMO projects, overseeing the timely implementation of project plans, maintaining water-tight governance systems, fostering stakeholder relationships both internal and external, and leading the project team through the project lifecycle, from concept to delivery and into business as usual.

As every project we deliver is different you will be required to flex your skills to drive each individual project forward; this will include responsibility for project delivery and will include identifying when agile or traditional methods are more suitable for such delivery. You will closely monitor and update project schedules and budgets, prepare progress reports, progress action points, control risks and issues and liaise with key stakeholders.

The role requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual who pays particular attention to detail; you will have an excellent understanding and experience of the project lifecycle and the need for project management frameworks. You will possess high level skills in Microsoft office, including Word, Excel, Project, Visio and PowerPoint. You must be a team player, be able to prioritise and manage a diverse workload within tight deadlines, be confident at liaising with stakeholders at all levels and have excellent analytical skills.
