Reporting to the CFO, this is a new position that provides technical accounting leadership across the division, and takes the lead on finance and control activities.

Technical Accounting & Governance Manager duties:

  • Develop and maintain technical accounting judgements and supporting papers.
  • Ensure financial governance and controls requirements are documented and actions set to achieve a strong and robust financial controls environment.
  • Act as the main point of contact in developing accounting positions across new contract opportunities.
  • Support with audit requirements in conjunction with the wider finance team.
  • Build relationships with divisional finance colleagues and wider business contacts to support collaboration.
  • Contribute the overall strategy, direction and delivery of financial support to the business.
  • Develop an understanding of the business and complex contracts and translate commercial reality into technical accounting by influencing contract structures and approaches.
  • Identify areas of governance/control weaknesses and implement improvement actions.
  • Support finance transformation, providing insight and continuously challenging the status quo to help improve the contribution the function delivers to the business.
  • Support the CFO with the delivery of wider ad hoc finance projects.
  • The Technical Accounting & Governance Manager will be an ACA qualified accountant, ideally trained within a large accounting practice, with previous exposure to auditing large clients and a knowledge of long term contract accounting. Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates who have remained in practice at a Manager / Senior Manager level.

    Outstanding technical accounting knowledge is essential as is an in-depth knowledge of IFRS 15 and long term contract accounting. Excellent influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills are also essential.
