Matron for Critical Care Band 8a – 37.5hrs per week

The Matron will ensure the delivery of exceptional patient centered and safe care to patients across Critical Care. The Matron should be highly visible and accessible. They should be an exemplary role model for nurses, leading by example and empowering staff to undertake a greater range of clinical tasks to modernise and improve patient care. This role is key to supporting the delivery of the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for maintaining an environment which is conducive to the delivery and maintenance of a high standard of patient centred care, with the delivery of good communication and relationships between staff within the hospital and outside agencies, patients, relatives and visitors.

You will be responsible for enhancing existing services in and establishing new ways of working focussing on quality, innovation, productivity and prevention. You will be expected to participate in Greater Manchester Critical Care Network Meetings.

They will provide clinical and managerial leadership to a defined clinical area, ensuring that nursing standards are monitored and maintained; that the patient’s environment is safe and meets environmental standards; that Department budgets are balanced and that staff are personally and professionally developed.
