Join Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation trust for an exciting opportunity as a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist who is passionate about working with people with neurodiversity, to lead our community Forensic Support Team for people with learning disabilities. This is an opportunity to join a strong, vocal Division of Psychological Therapies, with dedicated psychology leadership and a vision to support all people in Derbyshire to live their best life.

It’s an exciting time for Trust services; the post holder will be able to shape the vision and pathway to support people with a learning disability/autism who are at risk of offending locally. Working closely with other senior practitioner psychologists, regional forensic teams and local managers; you will be supported to develop and deliver your vision. You will develop skills across the LD pathway, with a focus on exercising your expertise, leadership, development, supervision and consultation. The service has a focus on excellence and those with an interest in developing research interests in the area are encouraged to apply.

Main duties of the job

Working with us, you will join a family of practitioner psychologists & psychotherapists working for people with learning disabilities and neuro-developmental diversity, building partnerships with colleagues in health, social care and criminal justice settings. Supporting you, your personal and professional development and your well-being to deliver the best care you can, is key to our values in DHCFT.

We are looking for someone who enjoys multi-disciplinary team working, has excellent relationship-building skills and experience of working with people with a broad range of issues including offending.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of an MDT with service users, carers and family members, using a range of psychological ideas and interventions to improve mental health and wellbeing and reduce risks.

The post is line managed through a robust and supportive Psychology structure and offers great opportunities to develop a specialist area of psychological expertise whilst working therapeutically with patients. CPD and development time is generously supported across the service and DHCFT.
