Salary: £24496 – £25409

Hours: 37 hours per week

Workbase: Team are based at Cumbria House Carlisle but the role is a combination of office work and home working

We are looking for a Procurement and Contract Assistant to join the Procurement Transport Team. We are a busy team responsible for the commissioning procurement and subsequent contract management of over 780 mainstream school SEND and PRU transport routes.

The workload is varied and could see you assisting in the assessing applications drafting specifications tendering of routes preparing contract documentation raising purchase orders processing clearances for drivers & passenger assistants issuing driver clearance badges or even getting out of the office and undertaking route inspections.

The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of the principles of tendering and will also be aware of contract management although full training will be given. You will be motivated have good attention to detail and have experience working in a busy business support team.

Procurement Transport is part of the wider Corporate Procurement & Contract Management team so there are developmental opportunities in this busy flexible and positive team.

Local Government Reformation

From 1 April 2023 local government in Cumbria will change as we move towards Local Government reorganisation. The current six district councils and Cumbria County Council will be replaced by two new unitary authorities – Westmorland and Furness Council and Cumberland Council.
