An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Manager for cancer performance within the cancer division at MTW.

The General Manager for cancer performance will be responsible for cancer performance across the Trust, encompassing all national targets. They will also be responsible for managing the Trust’s two week wait, MDT coordinator, pathway navigator and straight to test administrative teams. This will include taking lead responsibility for: establishing a comprehensive annual plan for the Directorate; delivery of NHS Constitution Standards; agreeing and working within an annual budget for income and expenditure, including efficiency/CIP requirements; directorate contributions to the Trust’s Best Care Programme; communications and engagement within the Directorate. The General Manager will be accountable professionally to the Divisional Director of Operations who will provide personal support and development. Their objectives will include leading and/or participating in divisional and corporate programmes of work as well as operations within the Directorate.

You must be a dynamic leader who has a proven track record in achieving targets and objectives.

It is essential that you are able to work as part of the team and on your own initiative.

You will be expected to provide support across all of the Trust’s Hospital sites.

Main duties of the job

  • Agree the strategic direction and objectives for cancer transformation across the Trust and hold tumour-site and service teams to account for their delivery
  • Be responsible for the delivery of all services provided within the Directorate, ensuring these services are developed and lead towards the achievement of national and local objectives
  • As a Senior Manager within the Trust, be responsible for translating the performance framework and commissioning intentions as part of setting the direction of travel for the clinical activities of the Directorate and the wider Trust, specifically in relation to cancer. The Directorate will be managed as a business unit which includes managing and monitoring all staffing issues on a day-to-day basis to ensure full control, prior approval and compliance
  • Foster a culture which encourages innovation, empowerment accountability whilst engaging with their workforce to seek improvement. The post holder should be an advocate of the Trust Values at all times whilst incorporating these into the role.
