Clyde
The Fleet Engineering Thermal Insulator Lagger is based within our Clyde business area.
As the Ministry of Defence’s commercial partner at HMNB Clyde, Babcock provides specialist engineering support services, including the management of infrastructure and nuclear facilities. We also deliver operational maintenance, upgrades and repairs to support Royal Navy vessels, including the Vanguard and Astute-Class nuclear submarines.

The role
The difference our new Fleet Engineering Thermal Insulator Lagger will make
As a Fleet Engineering Thermal Insulator Lagger, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you’ll support the MOD with fleet engineering services to ensure the Navy has its fleet ready and are able to support global deterrence.

Day to day, you’ll undertake Thermal Insulating (Lagging) activities on MCMV’s, HM Submarines and the Estate at HMNB Clyde.

Essential experience
* Thermal Insulation techniques
* Thermal Insulation Materials
* Ship Systems & Compartments ( MCMV’s/A, T & V Class Submarines )
* Fleet Engineering activities and equipment e.g. scaffolding, FLT operations, slinging.
* Non Licensed Asbestos Removal
* Manual handling
* Risk Assessments, COSHH & Safe Systems of Work
* Control, issue and return of work equipment
* TICA NVQ L2 To Be Undertaken and all Mandatory Training.
* You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
