About the Role:

The Vento-Tormo Group is currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and technically skilled Technical Specialist with cell-culture and cloning experience to work in establishing new models of iPS-differentiation into immune cells (ventolab.org).

You will be responsible for:

You will work closely with a staff scientist and postdoctoral fellow to differentiate B cell in vitro using iPS and organoids models. Training will be provided when necessary. The Wellcome Sanger Institute conducts cutting edge genomic research on an unprecedented scale and our laboratory teams play a vital role in enabling and supporting our science.

About You:

You will be able to work independently, have good communication skills and interact well with the team. You will be expected to take a collaborative and pragmatic approach when planning the work schedules in order to prioritise effectively.

Essential Skills:

Technical Skills:

  • BSc (or equivalent) in a biological science
  • Significant relevant postgraduate experience
  • Strong background in cell culture and iPS differentiation protocols
  • Basic molecular biology experience including cloning of plasmid DNA
  • Experience with transfection of cells
  • Strong skills on FACS analysis
  • Confident to use the communication and project management software used by the team

  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to be independent and organised
  • Good attention to detail and systematic record keeping for sample and experimental tracking

Please note the position is until end of March 2024, with the possibility of extension.

Salary per annum: £38,013-£45,160
