About this role

A multi-award winning international architecture and design practice is seeking an experienced and competent Accountant to join their London team and oversee the accounting management of the London entities.

The role will report into the UK Financial Controller and work closely with the Project Accountant, as well as supervise the Accounts Payable Accountant. It’s a diverse and fast-paced role, therefore the ideal candidate will be focused, with have an exceptional eye for detail and an analytical mind. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the financial accounting ledgers within each company
  • Perform systematic balance sheet reconciliations to ensure integrity of financial information
  • Prepare monthly reporting pack for group consolidation (including P&L and variance analysis)
  • Prepare quarterly reporting packs by legal entity (including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Manage multiple bank accounts, including currency accounts. First level approver for payments. Perform bank reconciliations
  • Record sales invoices, manage accounts receivable, support credit collection
  • Periodic reconciliation of project accounting to financial accounting ledgers
  • Prepare VAT returns
  • Prepare corporation tax return information for external accountants
  • Provide Actual versus Budget reporting for support departments
  • Preparation of reports and presentation material as required
  • Proactively consider company processes and suggest improvements
  • Ad hoc support to Financial Controller as required, including cover for other members of the finance team
  • Skills and Experience:

  • Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). 
  • Experience of accounts preparation (P&L and balance sheet). 
  • Strong understanding of UK Accounting principles. 
  • Open-minded, flexible and willing to take on responsibilities outside the defined role when required
  • Strong work ethic and pride in work performed
  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail
  • Strong PC skills (primarily Excel and Powerpoint)
