Job Purpose

As a  Private Client  Tax  Advisory  Senior Manager you will be responsible for providing personal tax  advisory  services as part of a specialist team to a range of clients including high net worth individuals and their families and business owners. Given the nature of these clients, the role will centre around building strong relationships with both clients and other Mazars team members as well as providing pragmatic, holistic advice. You will work closely with the tax, private client and privately owned business teams and with clients and be committed to providing exceptional service.

Role & Responsibilities 

  • identifying specific advisory issues to consider e.g. shareholder profit extraction/exit planning, shareholder and personal succession planning, individual relocation etc.
  • Help team members to develop their tax knowledge and capabilities.
  • Building relationships with intermediaries and a referral network to win new clients.
  • Assesses and produces high quality work in line with the Firm’s policy and processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing tax reports prepared by junior members of the team.
  • Ensuring client queries are responded to efficiently.
  • Ensuring WIP analysis and billing are kept up to date.
  • Ensuring files are of an appropriate standard for quality control purposes.
  • Liaising with HMRC regarding various issues.
  • Maintaining up to date technical knowledge.
  • People management, including, being responsible for appraisals and continuous feedback, coaching and development.
  • Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Holds relevant professional qualification (e.g. CTA) or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience of personal tax services.
  • Demonstrates broad and strong technical tax knowledge and experience.
  • Able to build good relationships with members of the team.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.
  • Significant experience of developing project plans and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client handling skills.
  • Experience of mentoring and developing people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Broad experience of managing the financials on clients and adjusting the approach to advisory work depending on the budget.
  • Experience of identifying opportunities for business development on tax clients and across other service lines.
  • Proficiency with personal tax on CCH Central would be an advantage.
