Liverpool City Council Swim Academy are looking to recruit a part time Swimming Programme Co-ordinator to help deliver the programme, this role will be primarily based at Alsop but will be expected to be flexible and work across all 6 sites. Our aim is to offer affordable high quality swimming lessons to the local community and as a team contribute to the delivery of the Neighbourhoods directorate aims as outlined in the Liverpool City Council Plan.

You will be expected to take ownership of the delivery of this aim to the highest standard possible. The Swim Academy lesson programme is ever expanding and always developing innovative new areas of Aquatic Activity. You will report directly to the Swimming Programme Co-ordinator and will have direct responsibility for line managing Swimming Instructors, Assistant Swimming Instructors and Volunteers.

The key areas of responsibility you will undertake are as follows:

  • Staffing of the lessons, managing absence, annual leave and performance
  • Mentoring of volunteers, assistants and instructors to help individuals develop
  • Dealing with parents by email, phone and face to face to provide excellent customer service
  • Utilise and train others on Sports Courses (online electronic registers)
  • Attend meetings and support the Swim Academy team across the city
  • A minimum of at least 1 Level 2 coaching Qualification
  • You will need to be qualified up to a minimum of at least 1 Level 2 teaching/coaching Qualification. You must have previous experience of working in partnership with other agencies and a working knowledge of these agencies for example Sport England, ASA, British Swimming and STA.

    You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and ICT skills, including Microsoft Office and its associated applications. You will be self-motivated and an ability to work unsupervised, need to be able to organise and plan effectively and have the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.

    As this is a part time role the salary will be reflective of this.
