We have a great opportunity to join our Education team as a Student Support Worker for Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Pentonville which is a female prison. The role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, 37 hours per week basis. At Novus we work with passion, care, and commitment to create the foundations for change. For almost 30 years we have been helping men, women and children of all ages and abilities, in prison settings across England and Wales, to take new directions. What the role entails As the Student Support Worker, you will be responsible for liaising with prisoners on a day-to-day basis promoting the education provision on offer and carrying out initial assessments in English, Maths and learning difficulties/disabilities to ensure the learner has the information to plan her learner journey. In addition, ensuring that prospective and existing learners receive relevant and easily understood information regarding learning and skills provision and continuing support. To contribute to a multi-disciplinary approach that seeks to facilitate a smooth transition to the resettlement of the learner into the community. What we need from you To be successful in the role of Student Support Worker, you will need: Relevant experience of conducting initial assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups. Experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities. Experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary teamIdeally, you will want to be a part of a team who has at its core a focus on improving lives and enabling and equipping learners to develop, grow and be equipped for a life of work and success.
