About Teaching Personnel:

Our Specialist Branch at Teaching Personnel are currently working in direct partnership with Bridgend Local Authority. In collaboration, we are consistently recruiting for a number of open vacancies to provide 1 to 1 support for children with Additional Learning Needs. These specific needs can cover Complex & Medical Needs, Sensory Impairments and Behaviour Difficulties. If you have little experience of any of the above, we are still encouraging you to apply as we consider all applicants from all walks of life.

What do you need to know about the role of an Additional learning Needs Support Worker?

You will be working on a 1 to 1 basis with a child who has either a diagnosis of Complex Needs, Sensory Impairments or Behaviour Difficulties. Your role is to support the child academically, socially and on occasions physically. All training will be provided, and you will be allocated a Specialist Mentor from the Local Authority who will support you every step of the way.

The Role Requirements:

  • Undertaking tasks set by the class teacher
  • Supporting children within the class
  • Building up rapport between yourself and the pupils
  • Managing the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
  • Supporting children with SEN ranging from mild to severe
  • Working with small groups of 1-2-1
  • Working in collaboration with other professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists and other health care professionals.

To apply for this position, you will need:

  • Recent experience of working in a Mainstream classroom/or experience of working with children with special educational needs (SEN) in an educational setting
  • A strong passion to enhance the development of pupils
  • An approachable and positive attitude
  • Hold relevant qualifications
  • Ideally Team Teach Trained
  • Be registered with the EWC
  • Be confident in working with small groups and 1:1
  • Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one.
