The Fairlie Healthcare Group is looking to hire a Head Housekeeper for our Fairlie House in West Norwood.

Salary – £11.51 per hour Monday – Friday (£12.00 on weekends)

Location – West Norwood

Hours – 40 hours per week

We specialise in caring for adults with neurological conditions, as well as patients with tracheostomies, and who require ventilator support. What will I be doing?

  • To provide and manage the domestic and laundry services (housekeeping services) that meet all the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act, and provides evidence towards meeting CQC KLOE for the Safe Domain (S1.5, S1.6, S1.8 and S1.10), and the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2021.
  • To operate within the pre-agreed budgets as set in each financial year and to maximise resource allocation, reduce wastage to ensure the department operates within budget and that ordering and stock rotation systems operate effectively.
  • In conjunction with the Home Manager and Infection Prevention and Control Leads develop and implement the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules for the Home.
  • To participate in the service delivery and provide leadership within the department to ensure the agreed cleaning schedules are undertaken, recorded and a quality control mechanism is in place to ensure agreed standards are being met, including working within the scope the Commitment to Cleanliness Charter.
  • Ensure all records are maintained in line with the Housekeeping Services Policies, including relevant COSHH Data Sheets.
  • Ensure the housekeeping department is managed in line with local Environmental Health guidelines, the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2021, Health and Safety Regulations or other internal audits.
  • To manage the service in line with pre-agreed budgets, including stock, stock rotation and to reduce wastage.
  • Oversee the disposal and safe storage in line with the Home’s Infection Prevention and Control Waste Management policy, including recycling and other environmental considerations.
  • Monitor, appraise, supervise, train and develop staff within the department creating a pleasant atmosphere for fellow employees to work within. Cooperate with other staff in pursuit of the objectives of the housekeeping department and Home. To assist in the recruitment process in respect of any staff vacancies within the department, and other Human Resource matters, (for example leave request authorisations, absence and performance management) in collaboration with the Home’s HR Department
  • Participate in induction training for new staff in respect of Waste Management and Housekeeping services, (including agency staff and other temporary workers).
  • Devise 4 weekly rotas in advance to ensure effective use of available resources in a consistent and fair manner.
  • To act as a Fire Marshall for the housekeeping department and staff, including the participation in fire drills and providing practical training to staff in respect of fire procedures.

  • Experience of working within a similar role, including in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience of working within a similar role
  • Aware of regulations within the scope of responsibility of the post
  • Demonstrates effective communication, in multiple forms

  • Works constructively as part of a team and understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of this

Desirable

  • Exposure and work history in a Health and Social Care setting
  • Aware of the CQC domains and can give examples of what ‘outstanding’ looks like across each of the 5 domains

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a DBS check.
