Job Title: Catering Assistant
Pay: £ per hour
Contract: 3 Months …

Hours: Shifts AM/PM – Monday – Friday

Location – Durham

Main Duties include:

  • To work within established catering routines using own initiative as appropriate in the provision of an In-patient service and the use of raw ingredients within the commercial restaurant.
  • The hygienic handling of food products in accordance with food hygiene legislation and the Trust/Company Food Safety Policy (HACCP).
  • Observation of statutory and Trust/Company food hygiene regulations.
  • Taking and recording of food temperatures and seeking further instruction where these are outside of critical limits.
  • To assist in the preparation and cooking of light menu items.
  • Complete non-stock requisitions prior to authorisation to maintain required stock levels.
  • Serving meals in an appetising and attractive manner that complies with the company’s portion control guidance.
  • Produce all products in accordance with company catering policy/catering manuals and legislative standards relating to portion control, preparation, production and storage methods.
  • To be involved in the general cleaning following the appropriate cleaning schedules, use of electrical floor scrubber, vacuuming areas and cleaning of all catering equipment.
  • Qualifications and Key Skills:

  • The post holder must be willing to undertake mandatory training as appropriate to the job.

  • Ensure training and refresher training undertaken in Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, COSHH, HACCP, Fire Safety and Trust/Company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and demonstrate an understanding of any specific dietary requirements to meet patient’s needs.
