Do you enjoy working with students with Autism? Would you like a role where you can help students on the Spectrum to get the best out of their education? About the role This role will be based in the Additional Resource provision of this mainstream Primary school working with students with an EHCP statement of Autism. You will be helping students who struggle to cope in mainstream lessons to access the primary curriculum and need additional support or small group sessions in areas they struggle with. You will be supported by Learning Support Assistants who will help keep students focused and engaged in the lessons also. You may also be required to assist fellow teachers within the mainstream classroom to help ensure that students are engaging and understanding what is being taught to them. The ideal applicant will be someone who is a Fully Qualified Teacher in the UK and who has at least 2 years experience working with/teaching student on the Autism Spectrum. Due to the needs of students we require someone who is patient and flexible and who will be able to use initiative to plan lessons that will encourage learning from students and be adaptable to their abilities. About the school This is a large mixed mainstream Church of England Primary School based in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The school achieved a ‘good’ Ofsted inspection and t hose that visit the school are instantly impressed by the modern facilities which include a food technology room, MUGA and dance studio. The school also provides a Specialist Resource Provision for pupils with an EHC plan for Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Pupils part of the provision benefit from an OT room, Sensory room and specialist therapies such as music therapy alongside the National Curriculum subjects and ‘are well supported to meet their individual learning needs.’.
