Sister/Charge Nurse – Oncology Outpatients Attractive £2,(Apply online only) Golden Hello welcome incentive payment to successful candidates to join our team Competitive Salary We have an exciting opportunity for an F Grade Junior Sister/Charge Nurse (Band 6 equivalent) to join our Oncology & Haematology Outpatients Unit based at our award-winning Cancer Centre. Job Profile As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will facilitate the provision of a co-ordinated, high quality outpatient service to cancer patients in consultation with the Unit Manager. You will also be in charge and act as deputy when the manager is absent. Job Type: Full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours a week Shifts: Monday to Friday, The unit is open from 08:30 to 18:00. Duties & Responsibilities Provide efficient, effective and evidence-based nursing care to patients, and to be competent in the Administration of SACTs and recognition of life threatening and/or oncology emergencies. Undertake the role mentor for student nurses and junior staff within the unit. Maintain clinical credibility and visibility across all patient care areas as well as organise workload in line with clinical priorities. In conjunction with the nurse specialists and clinical training team, develop and implement appropriate education and training programmes for Junior Nurses and HCAs, as well as contributing and assisting in professional development plans of staff as appropriate. Assist in the development of nursing policies and implementation into the Oncology & Haematology Outpatients Unit, as well as participate in governance of the department including risk management, research and audit activities. Skills & Experience Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration. UK University accredited Chemotherapy module and evidence of SACT passport. Post registration experience in acute medicine and within an Oncology and/or Haematology setting. Experience of Clinical Governance Framework/risk management and policy and procedure development. Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience of taking charge of shifts. High level communication skills, including influencing, with experience of dealing with distressful and challenging situations.
