As a study skills tutor you will be supporting students at the University of Wolverhampton who have learning difficulties. This will be done by working one-to-one with students and understanding their needs to support them with their academic work.

Responsibilities:

As a Study skills tutor you will be expected to:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one support with students you have been assigned to based on their specific learning difficulties
  • Assist students with organisational skills such as, time management, creating action plans to work towards deadlines
  • Help with their research skills by assisting them to access ranges of resources
  • Provide help with writing skills, how to structure their work
  • Encourage students to build on existing strengths so they are able to develop on their independence
  • Behave in a confidential and professional manner at all time with students
  • Work closely with Randstad and ensure any concerns regarding students are communicated immediately
  • Requirements:

    As this is a specialist role, it is essential that you have a professional membership with one of the following:

  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) – Full or associate membership
  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA) – Full professional membership
  • The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE) – Professional membership
  • Dyslexia Guildo Associate Member (ADG) o Associate Member (ADG FE/HE) o Member (MDG)

  • Organisational skills – to be able to manage your workload of multiple students to support
  • Be reliable and punctual at all times when having sessions with students
