A bit about the role You will be joining the team in our Employability service, which supports young people aged 16-24 who have experienced a variety of challenges in life. We will task you with delivering a range of practical and accredited construction employability sessions to young people. The aim is to give participants the skills and confidence to enter the world of work. You will see first-hand the difference our work makes the lives of the young people within our communities. How you’ll help to create brighter futures If you are an experienced trainer in trades and construction, we have a great role for you at Action for Children. We want you to share your practical skills with young people who face challenges in life helping them take the first step into the world of work. For you, this could be a change of direction in your career or the chance to return to full-time work. The contract initially runs through autumn and winter into spring 2023 with the potential of extension, depending on funding . Key responsibilities include: Organising, coordinating, and leading the delivery of construction training sessions Delivering and/or coordinating practical 1 2-day sessions, examples, intro trades, taster sessions on practical skills and using tools and equipment. Working closely with colleagues to monitor the progress of trainees and plan training accordingly. Organising and implementing workload, including up to date records of activity, risk assessments and learner packs/certifications. Let’s talk about you We are looking for proven experience of devising and delivering training. It would be great if you have a construction related/accredited training qualification (SMSTS, NEBOSH, REHIS, etc) or a CIPD qualification (or similar). We would also love to hear from you if you have training experience equivalent to these types of qualification. It would be helpful if you brought knowledge or experience of multiple trades/skills to develop practical sessions (i.e. joinery, painting, groundworks, tiling, plumbing etc). You will be used to planning the detail of courses, setting up sessions and producing training materials. A clean driving licence is required, plus access to a car for business use.
