This is an excellent opportunity to join the Strategic Housing and Growth team at Lewisham Council and support our delivery of much needed affordable housing. You will play a key role in identifying housing led development opportunities and enabling the delivery of these opportunities through a range of delivery models.

The role
In this role you will provide strategic leadership of the Councils housing led development and delivery programmes, ensuring the delivery of housing led projects and programmes on time and to budget in line with the Councils Corporate Plan

You will lead a team of specialist technical professionals that will:

Be responsible for all aspects of housing development on Council land with a focus on leading on site identification, the appraisal of sites and development opportunities for housing led regeneration and development on Council land or in partnership, including carrying out all early-stage due diligence to inform development briefs.
Be responsible for the negotiation of commercial agreements, land or lease acquisitions and disposals, compulsory purchase and land assembly strategies to enable the delivery of housing and regeneration projects and programmes.
Be the lead strategic client to the Councils housing delivery partners and oversee the implementation of client requirements.
Be the lead on the services input on planning agreements to maximise the level of affordable housing whilst creating opportunities for Lewisham Councils housing stock

You will shape and implement the Councils housing and regeneration strategies and policies to drive innovation, improved outcomes, accelerated delivery, quality and value for money.

You will provide and coordinate expert land, planning, urban design and property advice to projects being developed and progressed by other teams within the organisation or in partnership.

Location
Whilst the service is primarily based in Laurence House in Catford we operate a hybrid approach whereby you may be required to work both in the office and from home as determined by service requirements.
