Description of the role 

The Investor Relations team within the group is responsible for providing meaningful, transparent, timely and accurate information to the group’s primary stakeholders – which include shareholders, senior management, employees, rating agencies, the press, clients and industry investment analysts – in order that they may make informed assessments and decisions about the group.
We are looking for someone analytical that is passionate and/or curious about the IR function, who is able to analyse complex data and information and develop key messages, and reflect those messages meaningfully in reports and presentations. This individual will be the intermediary between stakeholders, the Investec executives and the Investec Board of Directors.

Key functions within the Investor Relations division include the following:

Investor/Analyst engagement

  • Accompany and assist management with investor engagement
  • Participate in investor/analyst meetings
  • Assisting the investment community with their various information requirements
  • Preparation of financial results collateral

  • Prepare and/or assist with preparation of the group’s results presentations, results announcement, analyst book and annual reports
  • Financial analysis of the group’s performance

  • The team produces the analysis of the group’s financial performance that forms the basis of the narrative in the annual report, results announcement, and results presentation
  • The team works with the finance teams to keep up to date on financial developments within the group
  • Must be able to perform financial analysis in this regard
  • Internal IR

  • Working with out internal division s to assist in answering client queries regarding the group, updating materials/collateral containing group information, internal IR Roadshows, induction, and other staff presentations
  • Prepare ad hoc presentations as required

    Rating agency relations

  • Supporting in the preparation of the rating agency pack and presentations (in particular, preparing the strategic and financial review sections), responses to rating agency queries where applicable and reviewing rating agency reports
  • Technical Knowledge

  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Fundamental account ting knowledge, understanding of financial statements and financial ratios
  • Skills

  • Analytical skills: ability to think critically, engage in analysis and make decisions
  • Relationship management and communication: ability to build and maintain strong relationships throughout the company and with stakeholders
  • Strong ability to analyse information, develop key messages and reflect those messages meaningfully in reports and presentations
  • Proven report writing skills
  • Proficient in powerpoint
  • Organisational skills: Ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Relevant Tertiary qualification, ideally financial based / economics / mathematics
  • Proven interest / experience in financial analysis
  • Proven interest / experience in financial reporting
  • Aptitude for financial markets would be beneficial
