SEN Behavioural Teaching Assistant

This Derbyshire school are looking to appoint a behavioural support Teaching Assistant immediately for a full time, Long-term position. This individual would need strong behaviour management skills to join their thriving team, make a difference and contribute to their support team. The hours for this role are 8.30am-3.30pm.

The school specialises in students Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and are committed to promoting an inclusive environment.

Candidates if successful would need to be confident at filling out and using a Behavioural Intervention Plan (BIP) in line with the child’s tailored needs. The role will also include: * Working inside or outside the classroom with individuals or groups * Adapting support according to needs * Looking after children’s physical, social and emotional welfare * Recognising signs of distress in children and offering reassurance

* Reporting to the class teacher and parents on children’s progress tailored needs.

Requirements

* Experience with challenging behaviours * Commitment to working with pupils with special educational needs * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Initiative and problem-solving skills * Ability to manage confrontation and de-escalate when necessary
