The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practice Manager to join the thriving team here at Hook Veterinary Centre. 

This position would be perfect for a candidate who has experience in a management position, and who is dedicated to putting pet care at the heart of everything they do. The practice manager works alongside the Clinical Director to provide leadership and support for the practice team, line managing the support staff and overseeing the everyday journey of our clients and their pets. 

We are looking for an individual who is comfortable around cats & dogs, prepared to be hands on if needed. Experience in animal related industries would be advantageous but not essential. 

The Practice Manager will be involved in recruitment, budgeting, human resources, health and safety, rota management, payroll and learning and development. This role is extremely varied, and you will rarely have two days the same. Strong organisational skills are required to manage the role along with the ability to adapt and respond as needed to the daily needs within the practice. 

Full Time preferred 40 hours a week, on a rota basis, between the hours of 8am-7pm which can be discussed at interview. Flexible working around a minimum of 30 hours could be considered for the right candidate. No weekend or out of hours cover.


Salary

The salary for this role is up to £32,000 depending on experience. 


About Us

We are a 100% small animal practice in the heart of a large village in North Hampshire, offering excellent first opinion healthcare to dogs, cats, rabbits and other small furries. We have excellent refurbished facilities including digital radiography, dental suite, dental radiography, ultrasound, theatre performing routine procedures and visiting orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeons allowing more complex cases to maintain in house. Our OOH is covered by VetsNow. 

Due to the success and growth of the practice we are hoping to move into a brand new purpose built hospital very soon which will offer an even greater range of services and facilities to our loyal client base. Hook vets is situated less than 0.5 mile from junction 5 M3, and 5-minute walk to Hook mainline train station (direct line to London Waterloo and the south coast). We are a friendly and collaborative team, and this is an exciting opportunity for the right person.


About the Team and Culture

We are a team of 8 vets working flexible hours, 6 RVN, 2 SVN, 3 VCAs, 4 receptionists, and dedicated insurance claims handler. We have a certificate holder in animal behaviour and cardiology as well as a visiting specialist in surgery. We are looking for the right candidate to work closely with the Clinical Director to lead the team to continue to provide exceptional care to our clients and patients. Hook Vets works closely with the local community including supporting dog shows, donating to a a local charity providing overseas and national aid to rescue dogs and cats, sponsorship of therapy dog for the village primary school.


Applicant Requirements 

Experience in leadership and management of a team and ideally some exposure to veterinary or animal care industries is preferrable. A sincere desire to provide exceptional customer service whilst uniting and supporting the team is essential. Good IT skills, payroll, HR experience advantageous but adaptability and flexibility and strong ability to take initiative equally important.
