Salford Care Organisation within the Northern Care Alliance is recruiting two Healthcare Chaplains who will share in the provision of support and promote health and wellbeing to our 11, members of Staff. One chaplain will be responsible for the spiritual care of hospital based staff and the second Chaplain will be responsible for staff based within other settings.

This will involve responding to specific referrals as well as the provision of training and events/ activities promoting wellbeing and spiritual care. The successful candidate will be an excellent team player who is able to show initiative when creating this new role within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care team, the chaplain will be required to respond sensitively and effectively to the spiritual, cultural, pastoral, and religious needs of colleagues, patients and visitors of all beliefs including non-religious beliefs, in a person-centered way.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Detailed knowledge of the NHS Chaplaincy
  • Knowledge and understanding of multi-faith/ belief needs and cultural requirements, and the related role and task of healthcare chaplaincy.
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide rites of passage and rituals etc, particularly with the regard to the dying and for those seriously ill.
  • Knowledge and understand of Equality & Diversity.
  • Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Accreditation by a faith/belief community
  • Degree or equivalent in relevant subject. E.g. theology, pastoral care.
  • Post based training relevant to healthcare chaplaincy
  • Desirable criteria

  • A certificate in counselling or other relevant specialist training
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Years of experience in of significant pastoral / caring work
  • Experience in healthcare chaplaincy
  • Experience of caring for the sick or bereaved
  • Evidence of continued professional development

  • To be able to travel to the hospital site(s) within 1 hour at any time when working or on call.
