Main duties of the job

To provide advice and support to children with additional needs and their families/carers, especially during the assessment process and following diagnosis.

To undertake home visits/school/nursery visits to assist in assessment and diagnosis using appropriate observation and assessment tools.

To identify those children who have inclusion difficulties because of their health, development, behaviour or social disadvantages and to work with education, parents/carers and other agencies as appropriate to minimise the impact of their difficulties.

To have knowledge/ experience of SEND and issues facing children young people with additional needs 0-19 and ability to engage with children/young people. The post holder will be required to identify any barriers to engagement and adjust communication in line with the accessible information standard.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring staff training and clinical practice, audit and data collection, roll out of best practice standards within all front-line staff

Link into Bromley local area SEND Networks (such as SEND Network Champions forum) and contribute to the SEND improvement agenda in Bromley.

The post holder must be able to work flexibly and independently as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
