This role would suit an ambitious accountant towards the end of their studies (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or recently qualified with up to 2 years post qualification experience, seeking to join a growing and innovative organisation.

National Milk Records (NMR) formed in 1997 and serves the UK Dairy industry across a multitude of platforms including milk recording, disease testing, payment testing and more recently genomic testing. NMR generate data insights that allow farmers to make informed decisions on cow productivity, and as a result manage their business more efficiently and effectively.

The business currently operates at c.£23M TO and have ambitions to achieve double digit year on year growth through technology innovation and expansion into the US. The aim of this role will be to develop the profitability performance reporting for the group, reporting directly into the Finance Director and partnering with internal stakeholders. This role will enable you to see first hand how NMR service every dairy farm in the UK first hand, working closely with the laboratories as well as product and field managers: there will be the opportunity to travel to the laboratories (Wolverhampton) within this role on a monthly basis.

The role

The Finance Analyst will be responsible for delivering high quality reporting, analysis and insight to the business leaders on financial performance. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be a key addition to the finance team and will partner with the business at all levels to drive growth and efficiency.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Preparation of financial budgets and forecasts.
  • Provision of variance analysis.
  • Development of the profitability performance reporting for the group.
  • Reviewing key areas of value generation including investment decisions (revenue and capital), product and service profitability, and procurement reviews.
  • Business partnering and presenting data with internal stakeholders.
  • Deliver cost centre reporting and control.
  • Develop Product / Service costings and profitability analysis.
  • Establish pricing plans with Product Managers including the development of service bundles.
  • Support capital investment process incorporating payback, ROCE and sensitivity analysis.
  • Develop post implementation studies for capital decisions.
  • Develop companies KPI reporting.
  • Provision of 3-year business-planning as part of NMR’s financial management.
  • Carry out Value For Money Procurement reviews.
  • Support delivery of Annual Report and Accounts for Strategic Report and KPIs.

Desired skills/experience

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA finalist, newly qualified or up to 2 years PQE.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence senior managers.
  • Strong analysis skills with working knowledge of excel (VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables as a minimum).
  • Previous experience of managing large complex data sets would be an advantage.
  • Self-starter with strong IT and numeracy skills.
