Chairperson, Non-Executive Director – Restaurants / Catering/ leisure / Events

Position: Non-executive

Commitment: 2 day a month

Salary: Negotiable day rate

We are currently working with small restaurant and events restaurant group, who have had consistent growth and are now trading at circa £10 million. As they embark on the next stage of their journey, they are keen to appoint an experienced Industry Executive to guide, mentor and advise and lead board discussions as a Non-executive Chair. The CEO and CFO have ambitious plans for growth and are looking to double turnover within 2 years. The concept is fresh, seasonal, and stylish and very adaptable within new locations and settings. The business model is predicated on collaborative working with the best up and coming artisans and food business in order to create a vibrant and dynamic experience, so industry know how, marketing and relationship growth skills are key.

The position and individual:

This position is aimed at an experienced non-executive, ideally someone who has committee or board chair experience with extensive experience in the hospitality, leisure, activity or Events Sector. The business is specifically looking for someone with much larger experience as well as experience leading a business through major funding.  The incoming NED will need to have have strong knowledge of seeking funding, delivering quick growth and brand roll our as well as personal experience of their journey taking a small business through a scale up. While this is not a hands-on executive role, the team require a support, open and collaborative NED who will not only guide and direct bard meeting but provide insight, advise and a steering hand during this exciting time. The business is hoping to find someone that can share their passion for the business and enjoys working in a supportive capacity as well as someone that can commit long term.  

Essential Criteria include:

  • Previous NED, chair, trustee or committee experience
  • Currently holding or have held a CFO, CEO position, in a medium to large business across Restaurants / Catering/ leisure / Events or perhaps someone with more expert experience such as marketing or commercial from a very large organisation.
  • Extensive knowledge of pivoting and developing brands though changing circumstances
  • Strong knowledge of the UK hospitality market
  • Strong understanding of investor relations
  • Strong funding experience is essential such PE, CV, crowd funding etc
  • Additional knowledge of listing on AIM or London Stock exchange or major M&A would be ideal.
  • Strong commercial and marketing know how
  • Innovative and collaborative.
