A dynamic and forward thinking Senior Clinical Fellow to join our General Medicine Team.

The Senior Clinical Fellow (SCF) will be involved directly with the day-to-day care of General Medical in-patients allocated to their respective team. This will mainly be patients on a base medical ward and some patients on outlying wards. The SCF will perform tasks identified from ward rounds and support other junior team members in managing and completing those tasks. The SCF will remain accountable to the supervising Consultant.

You should possess previous general medicine experience and have MRCP Part 1. 

Main duties of the job

Specific opportunities will include:

· Attendance at Consultant ward rounds

· The opportunity to lead some ward rounds, or see selected patients, and discuss them with a Consultant.

· Clinical supervision of junior doctors

· Receive and also deliver bed-side teaching

· Attend and present/discuss patients at Multidisciplinary team meetings on the ward before ward rounds, or handover patients to nursing teams after rounds.

· Work closely with other speciality colleagues for the support of selected patients via Consultant-Initiated (CI) referrals.

    The Post holder will be encouraged to participate in the teaching of junior doctors and undergraduate students.
