Main duties of the job

We are looking for well-motivated, conscientious and friendly people who are willing to learn and to play a key role in improving the lives of the children and young people we work with. You will have contact with patients, relatives, other members of the public and professionals from partner organisations. You will work under the supervision of qualified Clinicians within the community setting and Paediatric Ward.

Candidates should be computer literate, with good communication skills. Experience in the caring profession is essential.

You will be joining services that are already well established, motivated and supportive within a cohesive multi-disciplinary team where your contribution would be highly important and valued.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • QCF Level 3 or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • NVQ level 3 in Health & Social care related subjects or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • Good general standard of education
  • Desirable criteria

  • All Wales HCSW induction framework
  • Good knowledge of anatomy & physiology
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Previous experience of working with children with mental health needs in a hospital, community or educational setting
  • Experience of working as a HCSW without direct supervision in a clinical setting and being managed by a qualified practitioner.
  • Good understanding of risk assessment and management and safety planning
  • Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of work based training and study days e.g. Manual Handling, Infection Control, Basic life support
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 or equivalent qualification
