The Opportunity:

Explore Manufacturing specialises in the Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) approach of supplying all structural and architectural precast components via The Laing O’Rourke Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction (CEMC), Europe’s largest and most advanced pre-assembly concrete manufacturing facility. Explore Manufacturing leads the construction industry in driving greater levels of design standardisation and quality by producing components via CEMC for building and infrastructure projects throughout the UK. The investment in CEMC which opened in 2009 has united the power of our experience and knowledge of construction with state-of-the-art processes and technology, providing our clients and contractors with leaner, smarter and more cost-efficient options for the built environment.

What will the role look like?

The role of an Assistant Environmental Sustainability Advisor is vital in realising our mission to be the ‘first and fast’ to capitalise on the opportunity to decarbonise the facility and to strengthen the capacity and capabilities within the sustainability team at Explore Manufacturing in driving forward decarbonisation [embodied, operational and maintenance emissions].

The new position will be embedded within the wider sustainability function, working directly for the Environmental Sustainability Leader STBG. This role is vital in enabling our business to understand and validate the facility’s sustainability performance. This role will be practical in ensuring the data we capture, reflects our operations, is validated and supports important groundwork for our decarbonisation efforts.

The role will support the business in driving our ambitions to deliver decarbonised solutions and supporting environmental compliance across the site.

It is essential that this position is a role model in exemplary behaviours demonstrating absolute alignment with our strategic business direction. Expectations include the role being fully embedded with the Explore Manufacturing team and working collaboratively between, production, design and operations. Communication from ground up and top down is essential in ensuring that our values and goals are clearly understood and recognised by the wider team.

Technical

  • Statistical reporting and analysis

  • Ability to manage change and adapt to new procedures
  • Relevant HND or degree and/or equivalent experience
  • Has experience in collecting and processing information in accordance with established frameworks
  • Is proficient in data input to database systems Produces accurate standard reports in a timely manner. Able to utilise information from standard reports to identify trends in performance
