3 Days Central London Office, 2 Days Home

Basic Salary £50,000-£60,000 dependant on experience plus excellent benefits 25 days holiday pension and private healthcare

My client a reputable and established trade association/professional membership organisation based in Central London is recruiting for a Technical Manager to report to the Chief Executive.

The Role of Technical Manager

Work as a team member of the trade association, making technical contributions to the organisation, management, and development of the trade association

Participate in Trade Association wide activities, such as member events and exhibitions.

Assist in external representation activities to promote or influence based on the trade association’s views and policies.

Manage and administer the Technical Committees and their associated working groups. Provide secretarial support and coordinate the agenda and activities in conjunction with the Committee Chair, with particular reference to those priorities, policies and issues that are specified by the Technical Steering Committee.

Prepare initial drafts of Guidance / papers using own and committee knowledge as the basis.

Manage and administer the outputs of committees, such as Guidance Documents, including their review and update, and their inclusion on the trade association website.

Advise on appropriate representation on all external committees that the trade association has chosen to be actively involved in, particularly those concerned with the development of Standards. Manage these representations to ensure appropriate influence from the trade association to achieve desired outcomes, including the liaison with other industry associations.

Identify relevant information resulting from external sources and distribute effectively and promptly to the trade association committees and members.

Collate data and update quantitative reports.

Manage any technical enquiries received and identify appropriate responses, using own knowledge or other resources such as the technical committees.

Person Specification

Essential:

Incorporated Engineer with minimum Level 4 qualification in engineering or science related discipline.

Proficient user of Office365, including Word, Excel, and Teams, able to basic trouble shoot to support the trade association secretariat and manage IT contracts.

Highly organised and able to manage documents, information and data for their future use and retrieval.

Confident, professional manner for relationship management in client facing role.

Highly Desirable:

Chartered Engineer with degree in engineering or science related discipline.

Previous set up and implementation of Quality Management Systems with aim to achieve ISO9001 certification.

Previous committee management in either technical authoring or chairing roles, e.g. role within BSI standards committees.
