The community respiratory team has evolved over a number of years to deliver a person centered individualized approach to care for people with advanced respiratory disease in their own home. We have a very exciting project to extend our team and manage patients who are acutely unwell at home supporting early discharge and prevention of admissions with a multi disciplinary approach.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Respiratory Nurse Specialist to join the community respiratory team. The role focuses on supporting individuals and their family to self manage their very complex conditions and involves excellent assessment and communication skills. You will work in partnership across primary and secondary care, including agencies and organizations outside the NHS to support people with respiratory disease to be supported at home.

You will be required to either:

Be an experienced Respiratory Nurse Specialist with a non medical prescribing qualification and clinical assessment skills

Or

Be an experienced nurse with significant respiratory and/or community experience, educated to degree level and with evidence of recent CPD and be prepared to complete non medical prescribing, clinical assessment and decision making course. This will be done under Annex 21 (see attached for more info).

You will require excellent communication skills and be able to work as a member of the wider Health and Social Care Team with the ability to work autonomously utilizing your own initiative, clinical judgment and decision making. As this is a community post you will also be required to travel across Fife.

This post is for a fixed term of 20 months and applications on a secondment basis will be considered providing you have prior agreement from your current line manager.

Trainees are paid a percentage of a band 6 level until training completed and passed (see Terms and Conditions).
