To be responsible for providing professional, efficient, accurate and prompt clerical and administrative support to the Orthoptic Team.

Typing letters using EPRO

To receive, handle and respond to telephone enquiries and queries from patients and/or their parents/carers other agencies and Health Board Staff with courtesy, dignity, respect and in a professional, helpful and sensitive manner.

Monitor the referrals received via e-mail taking appropriate action as necessary escalating to relevant person as required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Work using own initiative to ensure the efficient and effective clerical and administrative service to the Orthoptic Team. Provide additional administration and clerical support e. copying, word processing, and audio-typing services associated with correspondence and reports.

To receive, handle and respond to telephone enquiries and queries from patients and/or their parents/carers other agencies and Health Board Staff with courtesy, dignity, respect and in a professional, helpful and sensitive manner. Respond to queries within own area of responsibility and escalate/ refer on to the appropriate department as required. Maintain strictest of confidentiality at all times.

Monitor the referrals received via e-mail taking appropriate action as necessary escalating to relevant person as required.

To ensure that all patient notes needed for enquiries or by the Orthoptists are requested from departments and wards, tracked, stored and filed in accordance with policy and procedures in a timely manner.

Essential criteria

  • Good Standard of Education
  • Evidence of continuous ongoing learning.
  • RSA II typing or word processing or equivalent demonstrable experience.
