ADULT SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST

BAND 5 : £26,104 – £32,915

FULL TIME, 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK

We are looking for a qualified Speech and Language Therapist wishing to develop and consolidate skills in the field of adult acquired disorders. You will join a friendly team of 14 Speech and Language Therapists serving NHS North Highland, covering the full range of Adult Acquired specialisms. Clinical sessions will be divided between hospital and community care, providing support to people transferring to their own homes including residential Care Homes.

There will be full clinical support available in all the main adult specialisms and training and supervision will be provided as required. Post-graduate Dysphagia training will be available. Peer supervision and peer assisted learning will be available with our 3 other new Band 5s

This post can be based in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness or in Caithness/Sutherland as preferred by the candidate. This post will contribute to providing a service to various locations including the Caithness area therefore a car driver is essential. Caithness is a beautiful part of Scotland with lots of outdoor opportunities and stunning scenery and is part of the now famous North Coast 500.

There will be an expectation to provide group and individual working via Telehealth.
Sessions are mainly providing communication rehabilitation. There would also be some sessions to the outpatient service covering the full range of neurological, voice, head and neck surgery and fluency cases.

Raigmore Hospital is a busy general hospital providing a comprehensive service to the people of the Highlands. The SLT department hosts tertiary clinics and provides an area wide advisory service for other Speech and Language Therapists in NHS Highland. You will have access to an SLT-led Videofluoroscopy service, a Joint Voice and Swallowing Clinic, a Neuro-rehabilitation Unit, AAC resources and Specialist SVR support for Laryngectomy patients. You will assist with all specialist services, providing valuable experience for career development.

The SLT Team has a strong commitment to CPD, supervision and service improvement
A BSc, or equivalent, in Speech Pathology and Therapeutics, is essential, along with registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Registration with RCSLT is preferred. Evidence of a special interest in Adult Acquired Disorders is essential.

Car driver is essential.
