Assistant Director of Studies in General Practice (Part Time)

This post provides educational leadership for medical student teaching in primary care, based in the General Practice Education Group (GPEG). GPEG delivers primary care teaching for University of Cambridge medical students. The post-holder will join and be supported by GPEG and will be accountable to the Director of GP Studies. GPEG is part of the Primary Care Unit, within the Department of Public Health and Primary care, based in the Institute of Public Health on the Addenbrookes biomedical campus. GPEG is accountable to the Cambridge School of clinical Medicine, with responsibility to deliver the primary care component of the Cambridge Medical Course.

Responsibilities of the job include:- Educational leadership and teaching within GPEG- Contributing to the development, delivery and quality assurance of the primary care element of the Cambridge Medical Course- Taking responsibility for specific parts of the primary care element of the Cambridge Medical Course- Attending meetings relevant to delivery of the Cambridge Medical Course- Visiting teaching practices for recruitment and quality assurance purposes.- Contribution to faculty development for GP teachers and case managing concerns about educators/placements when they arise.

The post is for 3 Programmed Activity (4 hour) sessions per week, based in the GPEG office in Cambridge. Full administrative support is provided by the GPEG administration team.

Funds for this post are available for 3 years in first instance.

The role is being offered as a secondment or on a fixed term basis dependent on specific circumstances and this will be discussed and confirmed as part of the selection process following interview and appointment.

You will require GMC registration, Licence to Practice and Medical Defence Cover for the duration of your appointment.

Salary – Dependant on the successful applicant’s current salary scale: £84,559 – £114,003 per annum (pro-rata on Clinical Consultant scale) if currently a Consultant, General Practitioner, or equivalent.

Location: Department of Public Health and Primary Care, Cambridge Institute of Public Health, Robinson Way, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, CB2 0SR (approximately 2 miles south of the city centre).
