Your new role

Southend Council are looking to appoint enthusiastic cyclists to deliver Bikeability courses and cycle training sessions to schools, organisations and individuals, to comply with the national standard for cycle training.

You will be required to travel to the schools around the City and train pupils on cycling road safety, the ages range of the pupils are 5 – 11 on an ad hoc rota basis.

Successful candidates will be placed on a rota and will be required to help the children to learn all about safely cycling around the school, public walk ways and on the roads, over the course of 1/2 weeks.

Each lesson is 2/2.5hrs.

Also, within this position, you will be required to maintain accurate records, ensuring signed consent forms are received from each trainee before the commencement of each course or session.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this position, YOU MUST BE A KEEN COMPETENT CYCLIST. Who is passionate about cycling and enjoys working with children and other people, sharing your skills and enthusiasm.

You must be willing to work across the City at various locations and in all weathers.

 It is desirable that you are trained to national standards, however this is not essential as you will undertake a nationally recognised cycle training qualification.
