The clients Fuel Cell technology can generate power from conventional fuels and sustainable fuels alike, at very high efficiency.

Rullion are looking for highly motivated Electrical Design Engineers to provide Electrical and Power Electronic Engineering support as part of the Systems Engineering function group. The successful candidate will be involved in Electrical Design, Electrical System Modelling, Power Analysis and Technical Support to the Grid Connection activities for the Fuel Cell and Electrolysis projects and other Electrical areas where Electrical Engineering plays a particularly important role.

The successful candidate will have hands-on practical experience and strong technical knowledge around Electrical Networks and Power Electronic Technologies, including experience of delivering Grid Interface Design either on the AC and DC distribution level or on the Transmission Network level.

Candidate Requirements
* Qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (BEng Degree as minimum qualification, MEng, MSc or PhD is a plus).
* Hands-on practical experience with strong theoretical knowledge and experience of real-world components and systems with at least 2 years’ experience.
* Strong analytical and research skills.
* Experience designing and delivering grid connections for power generation and demand projects in-volving AC and DC distributions (experience in MW scale systems is a plus).
* Experience in interfacing electrical system with control system elements such as PLCs, embedded microcontrollers, electronic power converters and protection devices.
* A very good understanding of grid connection process, regulations, and policy across different geo-graphical regions (national and international standards).
* Practical experience of designing electrical systems (cable sizing, protection device selection, earthing/grounding design) and able to advise on panel and wiring layout, connection requirements, cable management etc.
* Knowledge of power system modelling and analysis. Experience in using ETAP (Electrical Power System Analysis) and MATLAB software.
* Knowledge of reviewing electrical design (electrical drawing and schematics, ETAP design, BoM, load calculation, components selection).
* Projects have a strong R&D component and involve working on first of a kind prototypes development, therefore a positive mindset and can-do attitude are strongly desirable.
* Strong time management, organisational and report writing skills.

Key Role responsibilities
* Support the design team in developing and improving fuel cell stack design.
* Support the test team in fuel cell stack and module tests.
* Electrical network design of grid-connected fuel cell/electrolysis system (for AC and DC distribution).
* Using power system analysis techniques to investigate and verify electrical system specifications.
* Model and analyse electrical and power electronic circuits to identify key areas for future development.
* Investigate and assess electrical connection options and power electronic technology options for both distribution and transmission connected fuel cell/electrolysis system.
* Developing concepts for electrical and power electronic architecture, including producing drawings and supporting material of the electrical architecture and physical concept including high level wiring schematics.
* Manage, review, and approve the design and delivery of works being undertaken by electrical contractors.
* Provide technical advice to the management team to ensure all aspects of the electrical design are appropriately considered and risk assessed.
* Responsible for the successful delivery of the grid connection package for fuel cell and electrolysis technology.
* Identify and mitigate project risks, advise on an ongoing basis about existing risks and anticipated grid related liabilities. Project risk analysis relevant to grid connections and electrical design.
* Accountable for reviewing and approving that electrical design complies with all relevant national and international standards.
* Accountable for producing high quality design material and documents for design reference.
* Responsible for generating and reviewing electrical design requirement for interfacing fuel cell modules or electrolyser modules to grid.
* Support the build of the electrical aspects of the Project.
* Troubleshooting commissioning electrical issues.
* Visits to installation location if appropriate.
