The role
Your role will be to explore how human operators in charge of monitoring and controlling the swarm (Swarm Operators) can best interface with the swarm.
You will be joining the Hauert Lab () at University of Bristol, a vibrant team of around 20 researchers with extensive expertise in swarm engineering. We aim to build a welcoming and nurturing environment with weekly swarm seminars, training opportunities, and regular socials.
What will you be doing?
Your research will focus on :
– creating human studies to identify key questions in the design of swarm-operator interfaces.
– interfacing with the swarm engineers on our team, designing the digital interface and algorithms to monitor and control the swarm, to offer guidance on improvements to be made.
– modelling human operators as AI agents to best optimise swarm monitoring and control strategies.
– validating swarm operator interfaces during flight trials.
You should apply if
Necessary Skills
– Human-Computer or Human-Robot interaction research.
– Experience with human trials, including research methods and ethics approvals.
Beneficial Skills
– Swarm Engineering
